TPR & Demonstration

Commands & Demostration: Classroom commands refer to common terms and actions that are used in class. Including:  listen (cupping ear) , speak, sit down, stand up, circle the (insert word), use your mouse to (insert action) and so on. Demonstrating actions are also important.

TPR: Total Physical Response (TPR) refers to the specific movements that help the student grasp concepts. For example, a teacher can extend or contract his/her hands to demonstrate “tall” and “short.” The student should use the same actions to physically respond to a teacher to aid in learning and understanding.

  1. Make sure you model.

  2. Make sure the student models it back.

  3. Do whatever you need to with gestures to get them to RESPOND.
